More realism inattack, more realism in overall response, these pickups actually allowyour instrument to sound just as good plugged in as it does unplugged.Theonly thing missing from the HFN-C in a classical is the 'quack' thateveryone has come to expect and accept in classical acoustic pickups.As well, there is nothing artificial about the sound of the HFN-C's andthe usual under the saddle sound is replaced with the actual acousticsound of the instrument.The HFN-C piezo sensing unit fitsinside the instrument and spans the center brace or reinforcementstrip. Due its' design, this series of pickups produces sound muchcloser to that of a good microphone than any under the saddle pickup orbridge replacement pickup that you've ever heard. Installation Thereare no jigs or fixtures to mess around with during installation andthere are no changes to the saddle, the saddle slot or to theplayability of the guitar. All HFN's come prewired and ready to install.TheHFN C pickup unit securely sticks in place on the bridge plate of yourclassical guitar with specially supplied self adhesive foam strips.This mounting is very quick and very secure. The pickup may be removedeasily however, at any time should you want to move it to a differentinstrument.The HFN-C will fit virtually any classical guitar.The only hole that you need to drill is for the endpin jack or endpinjack preamp. Installation is quick and simple and takes about 15minutes (if you take your time at it).Each pickup is hand builtand tested in the Schatten workshop to ensure good sound. As well, eachpickup is warranted for a period of two years from date of purchase. Passive System The HFN-C series of pickups was designed to use a preamp; eitherbuilt into your instrument or of the external type. Ifyou already have a preamp built into your instrument or if you have anoutboard preamp, the HFN-C passive model will work with virtually allof those units. If you do not have a preamp in your instrument and wishto have everything onboard in one neat and tidy package, then youshould be purchasing the active (preamped) Artist model.Shouldyou not wish to have an onboard preamp and battery, then the Schattenoutboard Preamp/DI unit will match up perfectly with the HFN-C passivepickup.
