Vintage Roland AS-1 Sustainer, made in Japan during the 1970s before Roland introduced the familiar compact BOSS pedal format. The AS-1 is an early analog sustainer/compressor designed to produce smooth compression, increased sustain and a strong output boost. It has a distinctive vintage character that works especially well for singing lead tones, fingerstyle playing and pushing the front end of a tube amplifier.Simple two-control layout:• Sustain – controls the amount of compression and sustain• Out Level – controls the overall output volumeThe pedal has been tested and is working properly. The controls, footswitch, input and output have all been checked. It shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with its age; please examine all photographs carefully for the exact condition. Please note: the original bottom-right rubber foot and its mounting screw are missing. I installed a replacement adhesive rubber foot in that position so the pedal sits properly, but it is not an original Roland part. This is cosmetic and does not affect the pedal’s operation.Important vintage design details:• Made in Japan• Fully analog circuitry• Powered by two 9V batteries• No status LED• Input is on the left and output is on the right• Batteries are included• Pedal only; no original box or paperwork includedA rare and interesting piece of early Roland effects history—the kind of pedal that appeals equally to players, collectors and fans of vintage Japanese effects. It will be packed carefully for shipping.
