For Your consideration is a beautiful and physically near mint Marantz 2220 receiver with upgrades! Cosmetically this is a 9.9 out of 10, look over all photos closely and you will see this is as near mint as it gets. The only thing to mention is 2 tiny flea- bite marks on the black plastic trim above the "R" in HI FILTER and above the "N" in MUTING. That's it. The aluminum face is flawless, the plastic face is flawless, the case/cover is flawless, the back is flawless.One functionality item to mention, the FM does not come through in stereo, a known frequent failure for these units, however it does come in loud and clear it just doesn't translate to stereo when it should in clear loud stations. Dial is off by a slight bit, example: 88.7 tunes in when the dial is closer to 88.0. FM alignment is a tricky beast and it's not worth the effort or risk in messing up a working FM in my opinion.Sonically 10 out of 10 thanks to the below upgrades.UPGRADES - dial lamps updated to LED bulbs a much more reliable option. New vellum paper to restore the original blue dial face. New filter capacitors (x3), 6 new transistors in the tone board to eliminate the troublesome/known to fail transistors with reliable modern equivalents. All pots/switches treated with appropriate Deoxit f5/d5. Bias set to factory standard 7.5 mv. New more reliable power switch installed. This is a great opportunity to own an upgraded Marantz 2220 that sounds and looks like new. I have many years servicing, selling and shipping heavy, vintage stereo equipment. This will be thoroughly and adequately packaged for safe shipping. I will also purchase insurance so buy with peace of mind knowing this will arrive as seen/described, should anything happen, we are insured and covered on this transaction.
