1966 Guild F-20 Small Body Sunburst Acoustic Guitar Plays Great! Hoboken!
Here is a really nice 1966 Guild F-20 from the old Hoboken, New Jersey factory. In our opinion, some of the best Guild guitars were built during the Hoboken years, and this is a nice one. While it's certainly not collector-grade, it's a really fun guitar to play with a wonderful vintage tone and plenty of life left.
Condition is good plus overall. There are two impact marks on the top, one on each side of the lower bout. These are not cracks, but rather old hits to those areas. On the back, there is one repaired crack measuring approximately five inches long that appears to have been repaired well.
The guitar has a healthy neck angle. Action measures 6/64" on the bass side and 5/64" on the treble side at the 12th fret, with a decent amount of saddle remaining. It plays easily and has the warm, woody sound these small-body Guilds are known for.
It retains its original Sunburst finish, original strip tuners, bone nut, and the original Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The tortoise celluloid pickguard is original as well and is lifting ever so slightly in one area, which is common for guitars of this era.
Cosmetically, there are finish checks throughout along with some finish reaction on the sides and a small amount on the top and back, likely from prolonged contact with a guitar strap. The frets have plenty of life remaining.
It comes complete with a chipboard case, which may very well be the original.

Playability & Sound
This is exactly what you'd hope for from a vintage Hoboken Guild. It plays very easily with a comfortable setup and excellent neck angle. The sound is warm, open, and surprisingly full for a small-body guitar, making it equally enjoyable for fingerstyle or light flatpicking. It's simply a fun vintage acoustic that has been played, cared for, and is ready for many more years of music.
