Created for players who want one acoustic to become a long-term musical companion, the Gibson Country Western 60s Original brings a much-requested chapter of Gibson acoustic history back into the modern lineup. The Country Western emerged as a richly appointed square-shoulder sibling within Gibson's celebrated flat-top family, and this version looks specifically to the model's beloved 1960s era for inspiration. Its Natural finish, split-parallelogram inlays, yellow tortoiseshell-style Country Western pickguard, and classic square-shoulder silhouette give it an unmistakably traditional Gibson presence.
The combination of Sitka spruce and mahogany gives the Country Western the kind of balanced, lively personality that can adapt as readily as the musician playing it. Expect a strong fundamental, woody warmth, clear midrange presence, and enough definition for individual notes to remain articulate within full chords. Its slightly shorter Gibson scale contributes to a comfortable, responsive feel, while the Round mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard provide a familiar platform for both rhythm and lead work. This is an acoustic equally at home driving country and Americana rhythms, accompanying a singer-songwriter, adding texture to rock and roll, or responding to more delicate fingerstyle playing.
That vintage-minded acoustic identity is paired with a thoroughly contemporary stage voice through Gibson's exclusive Baggs HiFi DNA system. Lightweight bridge-plate sensors are designed to capture the character and dynamics of the guitar itself, feeding dedicated electronics before combining into a natural-sounding amplified signal. Discreet soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls keep adjustment within easy reach without disrupting the Country Western's traditional appearance. The result is a guitar that connects the look, feel, and musical versatility of a sought-after 1960s Gibson design with the practical amplification needed for today's stages and studios. Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, this Country Western 60s Original is available at Haggerty's Music and includes a hardshell case.
