fOXX Tone Machine Modified Clone Fuzz I purchased this pedal from a very talented builder in Japan. They are truly excellent pedals! Below is the description direct from the builder: This pedal is based on an octave fuzz pedal sold in the 1970s. The original had some model changes between the early and late versions, but this one is closer to the later version. I've also made some improvements and modifications to the circuitry. The goal wasn't to recreate a vintage sound, but rather to prioritize ease of use. Since the original transistors are difficult to obtain, I've selected and used readily available ones. The switch controls the octave: up is ON, middle is OFF (same as the original), and down is completely OFF. The middle setting leaves a diode in the signal path, which slightly affects the sound, so the down setting completely disconnects it to eliminate this effect. In actual use, there shouldn't be a significant difference in tone between the middle and down settings. The MIDRANGE switch improves upon the original tone control, allowing for range switching. Since the tone also changes with the octave ON/OFF switch, tone adjustment should be easier. The original octave diode appears to be germanium, but I've used a Schottky diode. I believe this provides better stability and effectiveness. (This part of the circuit doesn't necessarily require germanium diodes.) The clipper diodes use germanium diodes, just like the original. The octave is quite smooth. As a fuzz, it's on the rougher side. True bypass.
