About this listing
I bought this a few years ago from Coles Music and the guitar has just sat in the case since acquiring the guitar this is what Coles Music said about the guitar when I bought it from themSay hello to Frankie, this 1961 Fender Strat came to us from the original Owner, Frankie, who purchased it brand new in 1962. This beauty is 100% original with no mods, repairs, or alterations. The 1961 slab board is often considered the best and most desirable Strat ever made, and there is a long list of iconic guitarist who favored this year. At the time we purchased it, the neck had never been off the Guitar and neither had the Pic gaurd meaning it hadn’t been opened up since it left the factory. The neck has a pencil date of October 1961 all pots date to 1961 and all the solder joints are unbroken. The switch is the original three-way selector. The original bridge cover, trim, arm, and that we believe to be the original cable, are also included. The original three tone Sunburst finish hasn’t faded much, and although it has a few scrapes and scratches, the finish is in great shape with just enough honest where to be a thing of beauty. The guitar was always kept in its case in a smoke-free environment, and didn’t see much action in the last 35 years. The neck has a lovely played in feel that only comes with years of play. We did a light fret level on the Guitar after purchase, so there is no playwear on the Fritz, and they still have plenty of life and height. The pick ups are the original black bottoms and are well balanced, and sound amazing! This guitar plays like a dream. The provenance on this Guitar is strong, and we have documented it all in a six page booklet complete with the history of the Guitar from the original owner, Frankie. There are pics of the instrument in use dating back to 1962 and even comes with a CD of his band with the con caves where you can hear the guitar played back in the 60s Stratocaster in this kind of condition with all the provenance since it’s purchase, our rare fines these days and not many are left out in the world that haven’t been discovered. This is a fantastic investment grade 1961 with all the mojo and tone one would expect from such an iconic instrument the case provided is original to the guitar and dates to 1963 the original owner Frankie couldn’t afford the case when he purchased the guitar in 1962 it would have been a brown Tole in 61 and went back to purchase a case in 1963, which was a slick new black Tole Fender hard shell. All part of the history of this fabulous Guitar, all this, and more of the history of the Guitar are documented in the accompanying booklet, as well as as a certificate of authenticity, we have extensive pics of the Guitar inside and out that can be provided to serious buyers. The Guitar is an absolute gem and a fantastic example of one of the most iconic years in the history of the Stratocaster. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
