2010 version created for Japan is an evolution of the historic and famous but noisy 33609C.

This is the "JD" (Discrete) version, much better than the "J" and a much much better than the current version "N".

I am closing my recording studio activity now so I am selling it.

The JD model is an updated version of the J model. The main difference is in the circuitry: the J model was non-discrete, while the JD model has been reintroduced with a discrete design, bringing back the BA440 type amplifiers that many users preferred according to Vintage King.

The AMS Neve 33609 compressor was made to the highest design standards and provides complete limiting and compression features for music recording, post production, and broadcast applications. The 2254 limiter/compressor, which Neve created in 1969, served as the prototype for the circuit design that became the basis for the 33609.

Compared to the originals, the unit has improved internal and external I/O switching while still providing the legendary Neve sound. As in the original 33609 design, the 33609/JD features a 340 discrete output stage.

A sound quality that is distinct from other compressor limiters is produced by the 33609's use of transformers and a gain reduction element. This sound, combined with the device's unmatched usability, has made it a studio standard. Multiple units can be linked together to operate on multiple channels.
