A 10" splash from Paiste's 2002 series — the Swiss-made line that has been on more classic rock records than almost any other cymbal ever produced. Cast from Paiste's 2002 bronze (CuSn8, 92% copper and 8% tin), this is a thin, warm splash with a quick open and a short, lively decay. It speaks at low volume, which is exactly what you want from a 10".

This one wears its age openly. Deep, even patina has settled across both surfaces over the decades, giving it that aged-bronze look you can't buy new. Nothing here has been polished or touched up.

CONDITION — VERY GOOD

- No cracks anywhere. Edge inspected and clean.

- Mounting hole clean and round, no keyholing

- Lathe grooves crisp and sharp across both surfaces — plenty of life left

- The red "PAISTE 2002 / Made in Switzerland" sunburst logo is fully intact and legible

- "SPLASH 10″" stamp present and mostly legible

- Heavy, even patina and light oxidation spotting over both sides — entirely cosmetic

DATING

The red printed logo places this at 1981 or later. There is no serial number on the cymbal — I checked both the usual spots, embossed above the bell and inked underneath. That's normal for Paiste's smaller-diameter cymbals; splashes frequently left the factory without one. I can't narrow the year further than that, and I won't guess at it.

A NOTE ON CLEANING

I've deliberately left this alone. Paiste's red ink logos are famously fragile, and that logo is the cymbal's proof of identity — no polish, no cleaner, no water has touched it under my ownership. It ships exactly as photographed. What you do with it afterward is your call, but I'd leave the patina.

Home use only, never gigged. Stored in a climate-controlled, non-smoking home.
