TL Audio VI-1 Valve Interface.
TL Audio’s chief designer/Engineer David Kempson, who had spent roughly 10 years at Neve as a senior engineer and as part of the leading design team.

David Kempson designed the TL Audio VI 8-channel interface.

True to Kempson’s hybrid design approach, the balanced input and output stages use high-headroom, low-noise solid-state circuitry. For the harmonic saturation, the unit routes the audio through four ECC83 (12AX7) dual-triode tubes. Each of the 8 channels uses exactly half of a tube to add pleasant, musical second-harmonic distortion to digital tracks.

"Valve circuits do 'something nice' to the sound"

Total production run for a specialized utility piece like the TL Audio VI 8-channel interface, is in the low hundreds.
This is a rare unit that is hard to find, hence the current market asking price.

Excellent condition: Replaced with new sets of valves for the 8 channels.

TL Audio VI-1 is an 8 channel unit designed to interface before or after a recording console and the audio interface. Each channel has unity gain, so the signal levels through the unit are unaffected, but since each channel incorporates a valve stage, the audio signal benefits from the warmth and richness of the valves.

The TL Audio VI is mainly used as a "warming" device for mixing in the box to give you that enhanced analogue air and fatness.

The more you push the input the greater the saturation, to produce those wonderful harmonics that we all love. Bringing individual tracks and mixes to life.

Features:

● 8 channels of characteristic valve warmth
● Balanced input and output on each channel (via stereo jack connectors) ● All inputs and outputs compatible with unbalanced signals
● Operating levels of each input and output may be individually optimised for -10dB or +4dB (via internal links)
● Frequency response 10Hz to 40kHz ±0.5dB
● 108dB dynamic range (equivalent to 18 bit digital performance)
● ECC83 / 12AX7A valves run from stabilised 250v DC supply
● Simple to operate

Ideal for use with:
● Tape based digital multitrack recording & mixing systems
● Stand-alone digital hard disk multitrack recording & mixing units ● Computer-based hard disk recording systems
● Digital mixing consoles
