When's the last time you saw one of these kits with the matching jazz festival snare drum?

Relatively few Club Date kits were produced by Ludwig compared to other more popular models such as Super Classic kits. Additionally Club Date outfits ceased production by Ludwig at the conclusion of the 1960 keystone badge era.

The vintage Keystone Badge Club Date line of drums in the traditional 20 x 14 bass drum,14 x 14 floor tom and 12 x 8 mounted tom configuration were only produced from 1964 through the end of the 1960s before Ludwig ceased production -- making these kits rare and collectible. This is particularly true for kits that came with factory floor toms and Jazz Festival snare drums. Many Club Date kits were produced by Ludwig and sold without floor toms and came with 6 lug Pioneer series snare drums instead of the higher quality Jazz Festival 8 lug snare drum. Club Date outfits are renown for their tonal quality and wide tuning ranges. Single center position lugs (rather than traditional lugs on top and bottom sides of the drum shell) resulted in enhanced tone resonance. Club Date drum shells were the same shells at the highly regarded vintage Ludwig Super drum shells but drilled differently for alternative lug positions.

Original gold sparkle finish no re-wraps. Outstanding original condition non-smoking owner drums have been case kept throughout their life and it shows. One of the most desirable and fastest appreciating vintage American-made outfits you will find in one of the most desirable original colors.

The mid 1960s are regarded as the true sweet spot for quality Ludwig drum production. The Beatles had made their USA debut on The Ed Sullivan Show (Feb 9, 1964) with Ringo playing a set of Ludwig drums (in black oyster pearl finish). Following that performance Ludwig was overwhelmed with orders and their production quickly kicked into high gear in an attempt to keep up with demand.

This kit is in excellent condition. Beautiful gold sparkle finish that is uniform and consistent on all drums, no differentiation in color no color fade. No cracks or checking in the wrap. Rich high gloss color.

No color fade, when removing the hoops on all drums there is no differentiation in color from the area that's covered by the hoops and the rest of the drum finishes.

All drum seams are tight no lifting. No added holes in the shells. Interiors, bearing edges and re rings are in excellent condition. All shells are in round with drum heads fitting as designed with no issues. All shell interiors finished in original factory white paint.

Hardware is original and in excellent condition with only minor areas of very light surface wear.

All keystone badges are fixed tightly to the drums, grommets in excellent condition. The bass drum heads are both original and and in excellent condition -  very hard to find on these vintage kits particularly after 50 years of faithful service.

These drums deliver that world-regarded highly-recognized vintage Ludwig tone. Easy to tune, very forgiving in terms of tuning, and they hold their tune. All components in excellent working order and functioning as designed.

- Bass drum 20 round x 14 inches. Keystone badge serial numbers 246337. Date stamp January 1966. Original Ludwig tom rail mount consulate and mounting post, original tension rods and claws, original legs and leg mounts and original lugs. The drum also comes with its original cymbal mounting post  and cymbal arm for mounting cymbals onto the bass drum. Both hoops are original Ludwig 1. 75  inch wide hoops with original matching gold sparkle inlay. Both hoops in fantastic condition, no cracks or delamination. Excellent black hoop finish. No missing or broken inlay pieces.  Original Ludwig WeatherMaster heads front and back. Also included are the original white felt muffling ribbons for both batter and resonant side muffling.

- Floor tom 14 x 14  inches on leg Keystone badge serial numbers.  Date stamp November 1966.  Original nickel over steel hoops, original lugs, original legs and leg mounts. The drum also comes with its original internal white padded muffler and external muffler baseball bat muffler control arm. Minor surface wear on the exterior finish of both hoops. I replaced the original leg feet with new vintage style feet as the originals were showing excessive wear. New Remo Ambassador on batter side original Ludwig resonate head.

Mounted tom 12 round by 8 inches. Keystone badge serial numbers 247550. Date stamp January 1966. Original nickel over steel top hoop and original chrome over steel bottom hoop, original lugs original tom mounting port and original internal white padded muffler with external baseball bat muffler control arm. New Remo Ambassador batter head and original Ludwig resident head.

And the icing on the cake -- A beautiful matching gold sparkle vintage Ludwig 14 x 5 inch 8 lug Jazz Festival snare drum that was special ordered from the Ludwig factory. Keystone badge. Serial numbers 247529. 1966 date stamp. Original white pad muffler with baseball bat muffler control arm. Original hoops. Excellent original condition. This drum was purchased new with the rest of the kit.  Super clean exterior finish no dents or scratches in the shell, no non original holes and no defects on the wrap. Brilliant sparkle finish that pops with lots of glitter and high gloss shine. No fading, consistent sparkle and color. Original lugs, P-83 throw off, butt plate. All components in excellent working order and functioning as designed. New Remo Ambassador batter and original Ludwig resonate head.
