This is an incredibly rare early model 410 Ludwig Super Sensitive snare drum. It features a welded chrome-over-brass shell, chrome over brass hoops, and the very short-lived (and incredibly cool-looking, IMO) "transition" badge. This badge was only in use from 1958 through mid 1960, shortly after the company rebranded back to Ludwig from WFL.
The drum is in phenomenal shape for its age. A few notes:
- Strainer guards are not present nor included
- There are a couple of VERY small, minor dings in the shell - nothing under any of the lugs/hardware, and the shell is still round and true
- Replacement snare wires are incredibly hard to come by for these early drums, as the later wires don't fit them. A few years ago, Puresound discontinued their pre-1969-era replacement wires, which were the only widely available replacements. I am including a brand new set of Bibin custom snare wires made specifically to fit this model - a $75 value! Bibin is no longer offering these via their website.
