Sonor Signature Series Horst Link HLD-588 8x14 Ferromanganese Steel snare drum. Made in Bad-Berleburg, West Germany (at the time). 12 lugs. It's from about 1983-1986 and is in good condition considering its age. The drum is a seamless spun shell made from the same steel that Mercedes Benz used for car frames from the 1960s to the early 2000s.
Part of the Sonor Horst Link Signature series, this model features the same parallel strainer as other models in the Signature Series, like the 580 and 590. 24 strand snare wires are installed. This is the older model with the straight (not curved) parallel snare bar.
Overall in good condition. No rust. The drum has factory Hella diecast hoops; there's some minor pitting to the batter hoop, and some on the snare-side hoop but it doesn't effect the sound. A few of the lugs also have minor pitting, but again this is cosmetic. The snare has an internal muffler installed, and the parallel strainer mechanism works perfectly without any mechanical issues. Newer Remo Ambassador on snare side, Controlled Sound X on batter side. I haven't used it in a while so it could stand to be tuned, but I'll leave that to the new owner.
Only reason I'm selling it because I got my hands on the bronze HLD-590, so this one is a bit redundant. It's a great snare, it can get loud and project with some serious high-end.
