The Roland JV-2080 is a legendary 2U rackmount sample-based synthesizer released in 1997 as the highly anticipated successor to the industry-standard JV-1080. Known as a "workhorse" sound module, it combines massive waveform libraries with powerful effects and deep editing capabilities.
Core Architecture & Sound Engine
- Polyphony & Timbrality: 64-voice polyphony (on a Tone level) and 16-part multitimbrality, allowing you to sequence complex multi-instrument arrangements simultaneously.
- Tones & Structures: Each sound ("Patch") can consist of up to 4 Tones. Each Tone features its own dedicated multi-wave oscillator, time-variant filter (TVF), and amplifier
- Filters: Roland's proprietary TVF provides Lowpass, Bandpass, Highpass, and Peaking filter types with resonance and velocity sensitivity. [1]
- Modulation: Two LFOs per tone with eight waveform shapes (including Chaos and Sample & Hold), syncable to MIDI clock.
Factory Sounds & Memory
Wave ROM: 16MB of internal PCM waveform data (expandable up to 144MB).
Presets: A massive base of 768 internal Patches (including a General MIDI bank) and 96 Performances.
User Memory: 128 user-writable Patches, 32 user Performances, and 2 User Rhythm Kits
Unlike others on Reverb this one is already fully expanded with all 8 slots including multiple rare cards in it
