Antique clarinet that I had repadded. It features a fingering system which is very simple, most of the holes are covered with just your fingers without any key mechanism. I’m not sure what you call this key system, but it’s a lot like playing some of my older flutes that have simple fingering systems. There are a lot of conflicting ideas about this maker/brand of horns. I believe this one to be made in France before 1900. The logo looks very much like the buffet logo, but this was at a time when buffet was not the renowned maker it is now so it seems weird that they would use that logo for a purely stenciled instrument when the company wasn’t known like it is now. Anyways, this clarinet originally came in a wood coffin case type box like old violins come in, it is included and is in excellent condition. There was also a bunch of newspapers inside the case used to pad the clarinet that are from the early 1920s. It’s all still in the case. I have housed the clarinet in a modern era case for obvious reasons. The clarinet plays really well now. The body is in really decent shape overall for being as old as it is. I have always kept it properly humidified. There are no major cracks or anything like that to be wary of. The mouthpiece is the original mouthpiece and also appears to be made of wood. I believe this clarinet to be in the key of a, and all pieces to be original to the instrument. All parts bear the same logo, except for the mouthpiece. All in all this is a nice looking, great playing, somewhat rare antique instrument.
