Beautifully restored Wm. S. Haynes closed hole flute from the Golden Era of Haynes flutes. COA done May 2026 by a top rated, Boston trained flute restorer. The work is documented in a May 19,2026 letter which will convey and states:
It was completely disassembled and cleaned, as much tarnish as possible was removed, key sections were reassembled with fresh oil, lever angles were checked and corrected where necessary, the head joint cork was replaced, a dent in the body and damage to the lower G tone hole were fixed, pads were inspected but not replaced, adjustments and tail materials were all replaced, pads were cleaned and shimmed where necessary, spring tenons were balanced, regulations were adjusted, key heights were corrected where necessary and lost motion was eliminated, tenons were cleaned and fit, the case was cleaned and fit as necessary.
The letter went on to say " The life expectancy of traditional felt pads is 8-10 years from the date of manufacture-depending on level of usage and care. Yours are in ok shape. You may be able to get a couple of years out of them depending on how much the flute is played."
The flute plays beautifully.
