This has been a staple in my studio for years, but I just need more inputs. I re-capped it in 2024, so it's got low noise, and has been rock solid - it should be good to go for years to come. The tubes and transformer sound you get from this preamp is really special. You can even drive it to get some nice distortion if you dime it.
As a mic pre, it's juicy.
You can use it as a DI via the 1/4" in, but to get all of the tube gain stages in there, put a DI box in FRONT of it, then run it through the XLR mic preamp. That really brings up the shine. Glassy, rich tube tones ahoy!
