Terry Bozzio's influence on modern drumming is immense!

Terry Bozzio fundamentally redefined the drum set, transforming it from a timekeeping tool into a fully melodic, orchestral instrument. He achieved legendary status in the 1970s by conquering Frank Zappa's notoriously unplayable "The Black Page," achieving unprecedented levels of four-way independence and polyrhythmic complexity. His fierce technicality blended with deep groove and intense musicality pushed Missing Persons into the New Wave mainstream and famously anchored the powerhouse trio behind Jeff Beck’s landmark album Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop. His pioneering use of melodic ostinatos and tuned percussion expanded the boundaries of hardware design, percussion tuning, and acoustic engineering. His Melodic Drumming & the Ostinato and Solo Drums instructional videos inspired generations of drummers, demonstrating that the musical possibilities of a drum set are endless.

We're extremely exited to share THE TERRY BOZZIO DRUM COLLECTION. The collection includes artifacts from his virtually every era of his career, including entire gargantuan drum sets, snare drums, individual toms, cases, promotional items and more.

This DW Collector's Series drum set was custom built for Terry Bozzio. Black Fade lacquer over Tamo Ash veneer, Terry played the set extensively starting about 2000, touring with Jeff Beck. Following the tour it was used on numerous solo performances, advertisements, clinics, and video productions.

The set is featured on the recently released Terry Bozzio Performance & Seminar DVD from Drum Channel.

IMPORTANT:

Terry played this set in a variety of configurations. The specific drums that are included in this sale are visible in the first photo and are listed below. No other drums or cymbals are included. Additional drums items seen in the live shots are shown for reference and not included.

Due to the overwhelming size of this set, we were not able to expertly clean and restore each piece in the manner our customers have grown accustomed to. We're not able to describe the specific condition of every piece of the set. The overall condition of the drums is very good to excellent. The drums show signs of wear. There's some chipping on the black finished hardware. Some drums have scratches in the finishes. Some drums are missing small parts like wing nuts, tension rods or legs. Most of the drums are ready to play but expect to have to replace some smaller parts. Some of the drums could use a cleaning. The overall condition of the drums can be seen in the first photo.

A full case of Terry's drum hardware is included with the set at no charge. There are a lot of pieces but it is not complete set of hardware for the full drum set. Due to the high number of pieces we are not able to itemize each piece. Consider the hardware a free add on.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a genuine Terry Bozzio performance kit from one of the most innovative drummers in modern music. Combining documented touring history, educational media appearances, and Bozzio's unmistakable custom configuration, this represents an important piece of contemporary drumming history.
