The Ashdown Rootmaster MAG 420 is a solid-state bass amplifier head delivering 420 watts, designed for bassists who need serious headroom in rehearsal or live settings. It features a 5-band rotary EQ (covering Bass at 100Hz, Lo Mid at 220Hz, Middle at 660Hz, Hi Mid at 1.6kHz, and Treble at 7kHz shelving) alongside a Deep switch and a Shape switch that recalls a classic Ashdown ABM tone preset. On-board processing includes a one-knob compressor, a footswitchable tube-emulated variable overdrive, and a footswitchable sub-harmonic generator for dialling in sub-octave weight. Connectivity covers high and low instrument inputs, a line input, a balanced DI output, a tuner output, and an effects loop send and return — making it equally at home on stage or patched into a recording setup. At approximately 4 kg it is a compact, lightweight head for its output class.
