This is a 15x14 Ludwig Acrylic Marching snare drum made especially for US Army Band to celebrate the Bicentennial in 1976.
You can read the history of the Army Band at the time here:
The army band went on a year long tour with these drums and after the tour was over, these drums were distributed to various Military bands around the Washington DC area.
To be completely transparent, there is not a lot of info out there on these drums. Info is scarce. Either 6 or 8 drums were made and this is one of them.
This
My drum teacher played in the US Army band for over 30 years which is how he acquired the drum. He has since retired and is downsizing and I am helping him sell some pieces.
As you can see the drum is in overall very good condition. Three of the tension rods are for the top head are bent and one that I can see for the bottom head.
I did not remove the bottom head.
I removed the top head to see if I could reattached the lug you see pictured but I don have anything small enough here to do the job.
All parts, including heads and snares are original.
The rope tensioning system is decorative only.
I will ship the drum without the top head on so you can access the inside easier to reattach h it and then re-tension the rope system. It may be decorative but you need to get even tension and slack across it in order to attach it correctly.
Stored in a smoke free home studio. Only ever used for the bicentennial celebration.
