Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at a unique 1950's era Electro Voice 915 model Crystal microphone that comes with it's original short cable and matching E.V 427 desk stand in which to display. These make great general purpose mics that work well for a Ham Radio an other dispatch equipment. It should be noted that the mic has been tested and currently has a strong working element so this would be an ideal HAM radio mic and can even be used as a harp mic.
The signal strength is 100%.
Pic # 2 is from an old 1950's catalog I have showing some of the variant models sold by Electro Voice. The 915 was identical to the 715 & 215 model except the 715 came with the crystal element. You'll see the rare 427 model stand as well.
The ceramic and crystal microphones were affordable alternatives to the much more expensive dynamic and ribbon mics of the day. The 915 model had a unique design that was more about practicality then flair. A very conservative style overall.
As you can see in the pictures provided this 915 mic is in very nice original condition with just very lite wear. It's free of dents of dents, pitting or fractures but there is a few lite scratches. The white inner screen is very nice and free of heavy stains or holes. It's free of any odors as well. The E.V label shows very lite wear. Considering it's 70 + years old...not too shabby. It's hard to believe the element is so strong as well. This was obviously very well taken care of.
The mic is quite small and uber lite weight as well. I'd rate the cosmetic condition an easy 8 on a scale of 1 - 10.
The mic has a short 5 foot cloth cable that's in very nice condition. Soft, pliable and comes with the vintage male 1/4 inch end connector. The mic was meant to sit on it's own but you can apply an adapter to the bottom of the mic if you choose to seat this on a desk or floor stand though a desk stand is included.
The stand is a period E.V 427 model stand which makes a stable platform for the mic and compliments the mic nicely. The 427 is an all aluminum design with a satin chrome finish on both the riser and the base.
These rare stands were sold only during the 1950's. It looks similar to the 423A model but it's slightly smaller and lighter. The 427 has the two tier "waterfall" design which is a throw back to the older 40's and 50's era stands.
Total dimension with mic and stand are 8 inches tall X 4 1/2 inches wide.
As you can see there is very lite wear on the base in the form of lite pitting and tiny scratches but still looks pretty nice overall. No fractures or dents and the 3 original pads are in good condition. A great combo that will look nice just about anywhere it's display in the home, studio or office.
As always...
