Up for sale, a 2015 Gibson Custom Shop Historic “Hand Selected” 1954 Les Paul Standard in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, CoA, and all hangtags. These Hand Selected models are extremely rare (with distinctive HS-prefix serial numbers) and represent a direct collaboration with select Gibson dealers. According to the included pamphlet from Gibson, this guitar was, “hand selected from the Gibson Custom factory in Nashville, Tennessee by the representatives of top Japanese dealers with the highest knowledge of Gibson Custom instruments.”

This Les Paul is a dead ringer for Jeff Beck’s iconic 1954 Oxblood Les Paul, featuring a pair of Gibson’s CustomBucker PAF humbuckers, a wraparound tailpiece, Schaller tuning machines, and a very dark Oxblood nitro lacquer finish. Traditional tonewoods include a mahogany body with a carved two-piece maple top and a mahogany neck capped with a bound rosewood fretboard (with hot hide glue throughout), and this Hand Selected 1954 Les Paul Standard weighs 9lbs 3oz, rich and resonant in its acoustic response.

This Jeff Beck spec’d Les Paul is fitted with a pair of Gibson’s CustomBucker PAFs; introduced in 2013, these pickups are one of Gibson’s most highly praised PAF iterations, originally only available in select Custom Shop models. Featuring Alnico III magnets, these low-medium output pickups have ample chirp, honk, and bloom, with the added resonance and ringing trebles of the wraparound tailpiece. The set in this particular guitar is highly detailed, balanced, and comfortably versatile with any playing style. This Custom Shop Historic Hand Selected 1954 Les Paul Standard benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
