This horn started out as a late Mount Vernon era Bach 50b. I am the 4th owner. It is my understanding that the Thayer valves were added by Ed Thayer himself in the early 90s. The small spring you see on the Gb valve lever is original to his installation. The current mounted bell is a 9.5”, 21 gauge, rose brass Edwards model... Its nice and dark but will get edgy if you need it to be. The handslide is original and is in excellent condition. The original leadpipe was removed (it was not salvageable) and replaced with a Brassark 1960 Bach Mt Vernon 50B press fit pipe.
All valves and slides move freely. The handslide is in excellent condition with no inner slide plating wear.
The lacquer on the bell is right at 99% with a few scuffs and small dings. The valve section and tuning slides are unlacquered but currently polished bright. That will change over time obviously if it’s not polished. The lacquer on the handslide is probably about 50%. All the brass except the bell is yellow brass.
I have an old Bach case that's included if you want it. It's a bit heavy and not in the best of condition...I wouldn't recomend it for daily use, but would be good for shipping, though would add to the cost of shipping.
