Vintage 1970s Takamine Elite TW-60 Acoustic Guitar - Rare Brazilian Rosewood (Jacaranda) 2-Piece Back - Made in Japan MIJ

Up for sale is a beautiful piece of Japanese luthiery history: a 1970s Takamine Elite TW-60, crafted at the legendary Takamine factory in Nakatsugawa, Japan.

During the 1970s (most likely 1976-1979) "Lawsuit Era," Takamine produced the "Elite" line to replicate high-end American acoustics. The TW-60 was a premium, mid-to-high tier model, originally retailing for 60,000 Yen (a significant sum at the time).

Premium Tonewoods & Specs

The absolute highlight of this guitar is the **stunning 2-piece Brazilian Rosewood (Jacaranda) back and sides**. Finding a 2-piece Jacaranda back from this era is incredibly rare, as most models used 3-piece setups or standard Indian Rosewood. The grain is dark, wild, and visually breathtaking.

Freshly Refurbished & Setup

This guitar has just been thoroughly cleaned, restored, and brought back to life:

Frets & Fingerboard: Frets have been dressed, crowned and polished. Has been refretted not long ago. The fingerboard is in good condition and has been cleaned and deeply conditioned with premium lemon oil.

Hardware: The original tuners have been cleaned, lubricated, and function as they should.

Body: Thoroughly cleaned and polished. (Note: As typical with 70s MIJ guitars, there is some minor cosmetic cloudy finish/hazing on the lower back/sides, but it does not affect the structural integrity or tone).

Action: Comfortable and easy to play, measuring approx. 2.5mm at the 12th fret on the Low E, and 2.0mm on the High E.

Truss Rod / Neck: The neck is straight. Truss rod has room to adjust

Sound: Deep, boomy, and resonant dreadnought projection with the crisp, glassy highs that Jacaranda is famous for.

Imperfections:

• Lots of play wear on body top, sides and back
• Body top has one major 2cm ding below bridge and has been repaired with CA glue (see pic)
• Small dent on Back Right Waistnear edge shows discoloration
• Tuners show some tarnish
• Back of neck has capo marks and play wear, small cloud in finish near 10F
• Body bindings has discoloration and many cracks which are treated with CA glue and varnish(will not come off with normal play)
