There's a reason every jangle-pop record from 1966 sounds like it was recorded in a cathedral made of light.

The Fender Electric XII was built during one of the most electrically charged moments in music history — when the Beatles were drowning in reverb and the Byrds were turning folk songs into rocket fuel. This is that guitar. Twelve strings, an offset body, a hockey-stick headstock that doesn't look like anything else on the planet, and a pair of split single-coil pickups that shimmer and chime in a way that makes every chord sound like the opening of something important. Plug it in, strum a G chord, and sixty years of rock and roll history rings out of the speaker.

This is the sound that made you fall in love with electric guitar in the first place.

YEAR / SERIAL NUMBER

———————————————————

Serial number 14XXXX on the original F-logo neck plate dates this guitar to approximately 1966, squarely within the CBS-era F-series production range of 110,000–200,000. The Fender Electric XII was only produced from 1965 to 1969, and this example is entirely consistent with a mid-production 1966 instrument. That said, Fender neck plates were pulled from bins at random and are not always assigned in strict sequential order. The serial number is the best available indicator, but I cannot guarantee the exact year with absolute certainty. If the precise year matters to you, I recommend having a technician check the neck heel date stamp and pot codes before purchasing.

CONDITION — PLAYER GRADE

———————————————————

This is a player-grade vintage guitar, not a collector-grade museum piece. It has been played and it shows — honestly and completely. Visible wear includes:

• Significant scratching and finish wear on the body, particularly on the lower bout and face — clearly visible in photos

• Checking and crazing in the lacquer consistent with age

• General oxidation and patina on the hardware

• Fretboard and neck show typical playing wear

• The headstock finish shows cracking/checking consistent with its age

The guitar is all-original to the best of my knowledge, with the correct-era split single-coil pickups, original tortoiseshell pickguard, original roller bridge and tailpiece, and original F-logo tuners. I have not verified the pot codes or performed any internal inspection. There may be unseen wear or issues I am not aware of. I am not a luthier, and this is not a professional assessment.

It plays and all electronics function, but this guitar is sold as a vintage instrument and may benefit from a professional setup.

RETURNS

———————————————————

Returns are accepted only if the item is materially not as described. The following are NOT grounds for a return:

• Dissatisfaction with player-grade wear, scratches, or finish checking — all of which are fully disclosed and photographed

• Uncertainty about the exact year of manufacture — which is fully disclosed above

• The guitar needing a setup or fret work — this is a vintage instrument sold as-is

• Buyer's remorse or a change of mind

I have done my best to document this guitar honestly and completely. Please ask all questions and request any additional photos before purchasing. All sales are final unless the item is genuinely not as described.
