The Taylor 260ce-K DLX Bajo Quinto is a modern interpretation of one of the most important instruments in traditional Mexican and Tex-Mex music. The bajo quinto has long served as the rhythmic and harmonic backbone of genres like conjunto, norteño, and regional Mexican music, delivering the punchy chord voicings and percussive strumming that drive ensembles forward. With the Somos Collection, Taylor set out to honor these musical traditions while applying the company’s renowned craftsmanship, playability, and innovative design. The result is an instrument that preserves the spirit of the bajo quinto while elevating it with modern tone, comfort, and reliability.

This 10-string, double-course instrument is built around a dreadnought body, providing the powerful projection and low-end response needed to anchor an ensemble. Its all-Hawaiian koa construction — featuring a solid koa top paired with layered koa back and sides — gives the guitar a distinctive tonal character. Koa produces a warm midrange with sweet, evolving overtones that deepen as the instrument ages. Internally, Taylor’s C-Class bracing enhances sustain, volume, and intonation, helping each paired course ring with clarity and balance while maintaining the strong rhythmic attack that bajo quinto players rely on.
