For sale is a J. Spears Chinese Moon Guitar 1997 #22 Handmade 7-String Acoustic in Good Condition!

Wow. It's hard to find words that adequately describe this beast of an acoustic!

This one-of-a-kind hand made 7 string acoustic was made by a local in Indiana "J. Spears". He produced about 30 unique pieces and this was #22, so towards the back end of what he made.

This instrument was made with a solid 4-piece top that has been put together nicely. The back and sides are solid too with heavy duty bracing that can be seen inside the acoustic. The sides are covered with a laminate that dovetails at the very bottom of the acoustic, presumably for crack prevention of the solid wood.

Also seen on the face of the guitar is a very nice inlay that goes around the entire circumference of the face.

The "violin" style tuning pegs that are seen on the headstock are just for show and do not affect any of the tuning.

As seen in the photos as well, the back of the neck had a crack towards the headstock. It's been fully repaired and is totally solid but is visible nonetheless.

The guitar is strung with D'Addario EXP16 with an added .042 on the D String. In order it's

.053 - .042 - .042 - .032 - .024 - .016 - .012

Currently tuned in the open tuning that's labeled on the inside of the guitar, but you can certainly play around with tuning and see what works best.

There is no truss rod, the action is a bit on the higher side, but it is playable and certainly would make incredible wall art!
