The Gibson Custom Shop 1959 Les Paul Standard Murphy Lab Light Aged in Southern Fade is more than a tribute to a legendary instrumentāitās a painstaking recreation built to mirror the priceless originals in remarkable detail. Crafted by the expert team at the Gibson Custom Shop, this reissue draws from laser-scanned measurements, chemically recreated plastics, and era-accurate construction techniques to deliver one of the most faithful representations of a 1959 Les Paul ever produced. From its one-piece lightweight mahogany body to its beautifully figured maple top, every element reflects Gibsonās relentless pursuit of historic accuracy.
Finished in Southern Fade, this model captures the subtle, warm burst tones that defined late-ā50s sunbursts, blending rich amber and cherry hues with understated elegance. The Murphy Lab Light Aged treatment gives the guitar the look and feel of decades of careful play, with lightly aged hardware and finish checking that add authentic character without excessive wear. The result is a guitar that feels broken-in and alive from the first note.
The aging work is handled by the skilled artisans of the Murphy Lab, whose Ultra Light Aged process simulates the natural patina and vibe of a well-preserved Golden Era original. Paired with period-correct appointments like Royalite binding, nylon nut, ABR-1 bridge, lightweight aluminum stop bar, and Kluson single-line tuners, the instrument exudes vintage authenticity in both look and feel.
Under the hood, unpotted Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups deliver the open, airy response and dynamic touch sensitivity that define a great ā59. The Authentic ā59 Medium āCā neck profile provides a substantial yet comfortable grip, rounding out an experience that is as inspiring as it is historically faithful. Complete with a brown and pink Lifton reissue case and Certificate of Authenticity, this Les Paul stands as a meticulous, heirloom-quality recreation of one of the most revered guitars ever made.
