Lots of upgrades/customization with this bass!
I bought this bass used and when it came to me it had an aftermarket fretless neck and had been strung for right handed playing.
It also came with some minor bumps and scratches - I’ve tried to capture in the pictures. A lot of the closeups it’s hard to tell what’s a nick/scratch and what’s just a reflection - so please ask for clarification or I can try to get another pic. Just being conservative, I rated it “good” but it’s probably as close to “very good” - all of them are around the sides of the body - the front and back look pretty flawless.
Since the neck was aftermarket, there is no Fender serial number - I confirmed it with the seller, but that correspondence is long gone from Ebay now. However, you’ll see in the picture with neck removed the standard Fender stamping - JBD - 62 L indicating that the body is a Japanese made Jazz Bass, 62 reissue, left-handed.
So, I’ll summarize the changes I’ve made to it either by necessity or for personal reasons:
- Replaced the fretless neck with a warmoth Goncalo Alves wood neck/fretboard - it is absolutely beautiful - especially with the red tortoiseshell pickguard. The fretmarkers are also blood-red. It feels amazing 1-1/2" nut width, 10" radius
- Upgraded to Bartolini pickups
- Added chrome bridge and pickup covers - I like anchoring on them when playing
- Dunlop straploks
Any other questions on it, please let me know. Local to Greater Houston area we can certainly meet up rather than ship.
