Up for sale, a Soldano Caswell X99 rackmount guitar preamp in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. One of the most sought after and innovative preamps of all time, the Caswell X99 boasts 128 presets and MIDI control. Part of the X99’s cool charm is that the full analogue signal path with passive control knobs are moved by little MIDI-driven motors.  A collaboration between Mike Soldano, who built his reputation on high gain boutique amplifiers, and Tim Caswell, longtime head tech at S.I.R in LA and mad scientist amp mod expert, the X99 is truly a unique preamp, designed to deliver both the best in preamp design and the purity of modern MIDI innovations.
Essentially based on the platform of the celebrated Soldano SLO, the X99 is an extremely versatile and dynamic sounding preamp, delivering everything from saturated, distorted bliss to glassy cleans. The Soldano X99 is one of the unobtainable trio, which include the Bogner Fish and CAE 3+ SE.

Originally it came with 117VAC supply voltage, but I contacted Mike Soldano and Bill Sundt who sent me a 240VAC transformer which has since been installed.  117VAC transformer included.

A rare piece! This Soldano X99 was made in 1992 with only 300 units made worldwide.

Unit works perfectly and has a unique and amazing sound, also comes with original manual.
