Magnificent and rare Jacques Albert oboe from Brussels, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.
The instrument is in very good cosmetic condition. The keywork is complete and functional, the joints fit correctly, and the body shows no significant cracks or major structural damage.
The body is made from rosewood (cocuswood), typical of Belgian instruments of this period, with German silver keywork.
Jacques Albert, son of the renowned Belgian maker Eugène Albert, was both an oboist and instrument maker. He continued the family tradition of fine Belgian woodwind craftsmanship in Brussels. Instruments from the Albert family are appreciated for their historical significance and quality of manufacture.
Recently examined and tested by professional oboists, the instrument would benefit from adjustment / servicing before regular playing use. It is therefore offered as a restoration or revision project, or for collectors and players interested in historical woodwinds.
Based on discussions with professional oboists familiar with historical instruments, this instrument may be of interest for Romantic-era repertoire or historical performance practice. The exact pitch standard remains unknown and could not be confirmed during recent testing. It may differ from modern A=440 tuning and would require further evaluation.
Sold as-is — instrument fully described and photographed.
