Product Specs at the bottom of listing
Fender Stevie Ray Vaughan (SRV) Signature Stratocasters, introduced in 1992, feature unique early serial numbers starting with "SE9" (1992–1993), often confusing them with 1989 models due to leftover decals. Later models transitioned to "SN" (Nineties) or "SZ" (Signature 2000s) prefixes, usually found on the back of the headstock.
Key Serial Number Patterns for SRV Strats:
- 1992–1993: Often start with SE9 + 5 or 6 digits (e.g., SE9xxxxx). Although starting with 9, these were produced starting in 1992.
- 1994–1999: Serial numbers typically moved to SN4, SN5, SN6, SN7, SN8, SN9.
- 2000s: Generally use SZ + 7 digits (e.g., SZ4xxxxxx for 2004).
- Location: The serial number is located on the back of the headstock.
Key Identification Details:
- Neck Plate: Early models (and some later) feature a custom engraved neck plate with SRV and his "Number One" guitar logo.
- Hardware: Gold hardware is standard.
- Pickups: Texas Special single-coil pickups are standard.
- Fretboard: Pau Ferro is used on most production models.
- Early Models: Some very early 1992 models might feature a Brazilian rosewood fretboard.
