The Korg MS-20 Mini is a faithful 86% scale recreation of the legendary MS-20 semi-modular analog synthesizer, originally released in 1978. It reproduces the original's dual filter architecture, external signal processor, and patch panel using the same component types as the original circuit. The mini form factor adds MIDI In and USB for modern studio integration while preserving the distinctive sound and hands-on workflow of the original.
Sound Engine
Two VCOs with sawtooth, square/pulse, triangle, and ring modulation. Two resonant filters in series: a 12 dB/oct high-pass and a 12 dB/oct low-pass, each with independent cutoff, peak (resonance), and modulation controls. Both filters self-oscillate at high resonance settings for the aggressive, screaming tones the MS-20 is known for. An external signal processor converts audio input to control voltage for the filters and pitch.
Patch Panel
The rear patch panel provides the same patching options as the original MS-20: modulation routing, trigger inputs/outputs, external signal processor connections, and control voltage I/O. This allows for complex modulation setups and integration with Eurorack and other modular systems via the included patch cables.
