Selling this one of a kind pre-war Lorenz LMV2/III, which had been converted to full Telefunken V41 specs (A-class) with 3x EF12 tubes. The amp is working fine, has tested tubes, new capacitors and fresh XLR and mains cabling.
Because of a lack of space it has a selenium rectifier instead of an EZ11 tube rectifier. Soundwise tube rectifying makes no difference for A-Class preamps, which show no rectifier sagging (compression) at highest volumes, because it runs permanently around highest current. At least, the third tube space is needed here for an EF12 to produce the full +6dBm level like the V41, so it can't be dropped without leaving the V41 data and schematic. Note that the ultra rare versions of the V41 (3x EF804S, built by EAB) worked with selenium rectifiers too.
The Labor (pre Sennheiser) input transformer has a 1:30 ratio (like the Tab V76) instead of the original 1:18. This means 3 to 4 dB more level to the first tube stage (or more sensitivity of input), but this is eliminated by the internal negative feedback to get the same behaviour like an original V41.
Soundwise this preamp is equal to any V41, but note there can be little differences between several brands like Siemens, RRG, EAB, or Maihak. On the measuring bench it works perfectly straight like a Telefunken V41. Notice that it runs on exactly 220v. You’ll need a power supply with voltage drop to 220v in Europe and a power converter from 110 to 220v in the US.
Cosmetically there are a few signs of use (see photos). I advise to rebuild the metal top lid which is better to put on it for safety reasons.
