MGR Design Series 001 Floating Bridge, direct bolt-on replacement assembly for Steinberger R-Trem, R Tremolo, NOS (new old stock) condition, NIB (new in box), fits Steinberger GR, GP, GT-PRO, Hohner, Roman Guitars, Ed Roman 6-string HEADLESS guitars.
Kit is brand-new, unused, never mounted, and in original factory packaging. A new aftermarket LOW TENSION tremolo spring is also included.
This tremolo parts kit was purchased new, directly from MGR Design back in 2023. I originally intended to install this on an Ed Roman ERGO, which is a Klein clone, but have decided to sell the guitar in its original stock form instead.
The MGR Design Series 001 Floating bridge was designed and built to NASA-level precision and quality. It was intended to be used as a replacement for the OEM Steinberger R-Trem assembly, which was utilized in various Steinberger, Hohner, Roman Guitars and Ed Roman 6-string headless guitars.
This professional-grade unit was designed and manufactured by an engineering machinist in Canada. As you can see from the photos of the parts, this guy has MAD SKILLS and is way ahead of his time.
This assembly is superior to the R-Trem by design, as it utilizes a conical-point to conical-cup pivoting concept as opposed to the older style knife-edge to V-grooved post movement.
Although the R-Trem units can be upgraded with hardened steel posts to prolong the life of the mechanism, the Series 001 Floating Bridge performs better by design and requires no modifications or upgrades. It was overbuilt to be completely trouble-free, and its parts were machined to last forever. As from fit and basic functionality, there is no comparison between the mass-produced R-Trem and the machined MGR Design Series 001 assemblies. Review the pics in this listing and see for yourself.
The MGR Design Series 001 Floating Bridge was engineered to be based on the Steinberger R-Trem assembly. The engineer copied the stock provided Steinberger tremolo spring, which is a HIGH TENSION spring. I always recommend using the LIGHT TENSION version of this spring in R-Trem assemblies, and also believe it's the better version to use on the MGR Design tremolo. Hence, I have included a new aftermarket LIGHT TENSION spring along with the factory Series 001 kit.
This engineering machinist created this tremolo assembly from the ground up, using only the finest materials available. The assembly was built to ensure the entire mechanism would be trouble-free and never fail. By design, it is impervious to bent posts and worn-out knife edges, problems that can develop with OEM Steinberger R-Trem assemblies over time and with heavy use.
If you own a vintage Steinberger GR or other R-Trem equipped guitar and want to upgrade your tremolo to a superior mechanical assembly, on that was built to last forever, the Series 001 Floating Bridge is exactly what you need. No modifications to your prized axe are required as long as the body is routed for an R-Trem. Simply remove your old R-Trem assembly, then bolt the MGR Design Series 001 Floating Bridge right on using the same mounting holes.
These state-of-the-art MGR Design Series 001 Floating Bridges were only produced in a short, limited run back in 2023 and possibly into early 2024. I sat on the waiting list several times and purchased several of these units from the company during the production run. Sadly, the guy ended up discontinuing production, so these units are no longer available.
Please research all aspects of this part or piece of gear via internet searches, YouTube videos, Facebook groups, brick-and-mortar music stores, musician’s blogs, manufacturer’s demo clips, etc. It is your responsibility to fully understand the details, pros, cons, and particulars surrounding this part or piece of gear before finalizing the sale from your Reverb shopping cart. Message me with any questions or concerns PRIOR to purchasing this item. If you do purchase this piece of gear, consider the sale to be final as stated clearly and repeatedly within this Reverb listing.
This shop does not offer a 'try it first' option. If you buy this part or piece of gear and for some reason do not like its sound, operation, functionality, fit, feel, finish, coloration, look, or whatever else, it will be your turn to list the item as being for sale from your Reverb shop. NO RETURNS. By purchasing this item, you are confirming that you agree and accept all the terms of sale outlined in this listing.
NOTE: The Reverb ‘Make Offer’ button was intentionally de-selected when this listing was created as most gear is already being sold at a substantial loss. Pricing is set to what seems reasonable based on other similar items or historical sales and may be adjusted up or down periodically depending on the market. Additionally, the shop is in the process of ‘thinning the herd’ in preparation for an upcoming out-of-state move and therefore is not able to entertain offers of trades either.
Shipping will be to the continental lower 48 USA states only, Hawaii and Alaska excluded. Per Reverb's shipping rules, the package will be issued a shipping label within 3 days (72 hours) after the time of purchase. At this point, the gear is considered shipped by the Reverb system, even if the package has not been scanned in by the courier or physically loaded onto a truck. Buyers will be notified as soon as the package is physically in the hands of the courier. A tracking number should become active on the Reverb website within 24 hours after the drop-off time.
Smaller boxes used to contain parts, Euro rack modules, or effects pedals can usually be shipped via USPS Ground Advantage. Larger boxes used to contain rack-mounted gear, guitars, or basses normally ship via UPS Ground or FedEx Ground. All couriers give estimates of 5 to 7 DAYS of transit time after the package is dropped off. The day the package is dropped off or picked up by the courier is not included in this estimate, so this adds 1 MORE DAY to the total shipping estimate.
Doing the math, 3 DAYS to ship + 1 DAY for pickup or processing at the courier's hub + 5 to 7 DAYS in transit + 1 Sunday = 10 to 12 DAYS total from the time of purchase. Although the majority of gear sold at this shop has made it to the new owner(s) within 7 to 8 DAYS, it can take 12 DAYS or MORE from the time of purchase for a package to reach the destination address.
How long the delivery takes is dependent on multiple factors, including the distance from Loveland CO to the destination address, courier slowdowns due to adverse weather conditions, unexpected courier delays, and mistakes made by the courier while the package is in transit. By purchasing this piece of gear, you are acknowledging the facts stated above and confirming that you are accepting the shipping time estimates provided therein regarding the delivery of your package.
The package will ship FULLY INSURED and will require a SIGNATURE for delivery. If you miss the courier at the time of delivery, a slip will be left on your door. The slip will provide selections for alternative delivery options, including pick up of the package at your local Post Office, UPS hub, or FedEx hub.
All parts and pieces of gear will be professionally packaged inside a sturdy cardboard box prior to shipping, with ample space and padding surrounding the item. Any open spaces will be filled with Styrofoam peanuts, cornstarch peanuts, Kraft paper, foam, and/or bubble wrap for maximum protection of the part or piece of gear.
