The Super Reverb is a powerful and well equipped combo amp suitable for virtually every style of music. This blackface example dates to 1966 originally and is a very unusual example with a set of interesting modifications.

Notably, this amplifier has been modified for an 80 Watt output, with its original output transformer removed and replaced with an output transformer from a 1970's Twin Reverb. Two additional 6L6 output tubes form a quartet of power tubes like one may find in a Twin. To make room for the extra power tubes, the GZ34 rectifier has been removed and replaced with a solid state rectifier, tightening up the low end and removing any "sag" usually associated with this model.

The old ground switch has been repurposed as a "half power" switch, giving you 80 and 40 watt modes of operation. Both blisteringly loud, the 80 watt mode has a noticibly higher headroom and less of the breakup that usually comes with the Super Reverb. A phase inverter switch has also been added on the back of the amplifier as well. The rest of the amplifier is very original besides the afformented modifications, with only a few caps and resistors replaced on the main board.

Other routine updates to the amplifier include the addition of a grounded, 3 prong power cord, brand new set of filter and cathode bypass capacitors, a new tremolo optocoupler, and new cables for the reverb tank and speakers.

Cosmetically, the amp chassis is in decent condition with a fairly clean faceplate and two replacement knobs on the front. The cabinet is non original to the amp, and has had extra holes drilled to accomidate the Super Reverb chassis straps. The tolex is torn in some spots, and the grille cloth has been replaced with a new black grille cloth and the Fender badge is missing. The cabinet is loaded with 4 Ragin Cajun speakers.

This would make an incredibly versatile amp, perfect for recording of the stage.

No footswitch is included.
