Pickguard for a 1974/75 Gibson Ripper Bass.
This is a super chrome pick guard that is both flexible and appears rigid around the edges. I have no clue what the process is to have made this. If anyone knows please enlighten me with that process. When doing research some time ago I saw someone who was upgrading/modding Ripper basses back in the 70' - 80's and they used a chrome pickguard to round out their upgrade. I've searched but now I can't find that article.
So it appears that this chrome finish was done Over the original pick guard. Check out the pics of the pickup openings and the layered black/white pickguard is apparent.
Very Interesting vintage piece.
