restored.. the shell was rusty and peeled with a small crack. so I preferred to have it restored without rechroming it so as not to weigh down the shell. so it vibrates and sounds wonderful.

I also had the tailpiece tension system changed with a modern Ludwig vintage style. and 42-strand tailpiece for a more snappy sound. the holes are from the original supersensitive snare system. so I closed those holes with new tailpiece and the jack out of the trigger system. the resonant head is new. just bought it. the batter also, a coated pinstripe. the snare sounds very beautiful, precise and defined on high, enormouss on low tuning . I also installed a trigger system using the empty holes of the original supersensitive system. a stereo jack compatible with Roland system and other brands.. tip is for the head sensor, ring for the shell\rim sensor. beautiful also for experimenting.. the shell sensor, used as microphone it's incredible. I tried using guitar and bass pedals and it's absolutely insane. you can obtain sounds like Dan Mayo!. the snare with the shell sensor is a 14" microphone, because heads are like membranes. so the entire drum kit resonate inside the snare (when amplified with pedal etc) and no Larsen, feedback. just with distortions, but if you use a noise gate, puff, 0 feedback. very interesting also for live sessions. using this with other normal external triggers is very useless. because the head or the ring where the trigger is attached are not so resonating.. instead this is a very powerful drum microphone. (I can make videos if interested) obviously all is resettable and dismountable as original. the black glue is removable. just insert a credit card under glue edges and it will be easily removable. I no longer have the original tailpiece system parts. those parts were damaged, so I sold those as spare parts..

i also had a same era model 14x5 with same electronics mod\tailpiece here both on pics after a complete restoration.

if interested I can send you other pics , more detailed, and some video\audio recordings.
