This is a Lowrey DSO-1 Heritage Deluxe Tube Organ, Made in Chicago circa 1960’s.  This model is known for it's extensive use by the Beatles, notably on the intro to "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".  This organ has two tube amps inside- one feeding a 12" Jensen speaker, and the other feeding a Leslie rotating speaker, along with a massive tube board for all the sounds it creates. It’s sounds very nice!  Geoff Emerick, the Beatles' engineer, ran John Lennon's vocals on 'Tomorrow Never Knows' through the Leslie amplifier in one of these organs to achieve that swirling, trebly effect.  This model can also do the Who's 'Baba O' Riley" intro sound, although Pete Townsend actually used a later, solid-state Lowrey to do this.

The organ itself is from the original owner, a lady that lived 99 wonderful years and enjoyed playing this organ often. I have to believe it was serviced through those years, because everything works as it should, minus one bass pedal having a ‘burble’ to the sound, which is common from what I’ve read, the rest work well. I’ve walked along another video online and got this organ to replicate sounds better than that of the video, it sounds good! Speakers are loud and clear, all keys, pedals and switches seem to function as intended without any major noise. As with any vintage gear, It could use a thorough cleaning and check up, it does click and pop a little with certain ’instrument’ switches, very common in these older organs, but can be enjoyed as it sits! it warms up and sounds really sweet!

Overall condition: The matching bench, legs and rest of the unit are all in very good condition! You can tell this sat in the same home for over half a century. It does have some marks here and there, but the legs are tight and finish is decent overall. I do plan to give it a surface cleaning and oil the wood. I will update pictures upon doing so. If you want any videos of the sounds or it functioning, shoot me a message! I will do whatever I can to accommodate you for a smooth and confident transaction. I can help load the organ, but otherwise this is AS-IS and Pick-up ONLY. I’m on the East Side of Cleveland Ohio. I would love to get this piece of history a new loving home.
