This is a real one, "built in the G&L factory on Fender Avenue in Fullerton, California, USA," with Certificate of Authenticity signed by Phyllis Fender. The maple neck has a smooth ebony fretboard with inlaid "ghost" markings to indicate where frets would be and are visible to the player from the playing position. This guitar was purchased new in July 2007 and has been cased and stored in a climate controlled, smoke-free environment among my other guitars. I am a guitar player who contemplated learning the bass, but never did, so this instrument has been basically overlooked and ignored all the years since then. It is in immaculate condition. The neck is straight, the truss trod moves easily, the volume & tone pots do not crackle and there are no dings or scratches. Minimal if any oxidation seen on the chrome bridge/saddle, which is kind of remarkable, but likely due to having very little contact with human skin since it left the shop. The date of manufacture could be determined by removing the neck from the pocket and examining the date stamps inside, but I've chosen not to disrupt the incredibly tight fit of this neck joint, and rather will let the next owner have that privilege, if they so choose. It is at least as old as mid-July 2007, and probably built earlier that same year. Certificate of Authenticity and orig. hard shell case included.
