About This Listing

The 19a35 is a super rare Soviet FET LDC transformerless condenser from the 80s, and this mic really sounds fantastic, excelling in just about any studio application. They're fast, detailed and have extended low end and top end but are not overly bright or harsh, making them a real studio workhorse. I've used the 19a35 on vocals, strings, kick drum, guitar amps and bass amps with great success. They aren't overly rich or colored but far from sterile or boring - really a perfect balance.

The 19a35 a multi-pattern double-sided center-terminated large diaphragm capsule with four polar patterns (card, wide-card, figure 8 and omni) that are switchable with a thumbwheel switch below the capsule. The mic also has a -10dB pad on the other side of the capsule, and a red LED sits below the front of the mic indicating when the mic is receiving power. The 19a35 accepts +48V phantom power.

This mic was developed by CKBK (Soviet Central Bureau of Equipment Construction for Cinema), and later manufactured by LOMO (NPO/EKRAN) in extremely small quantities for internal use. The mic is built exceptionally well, can withstand very high SPLs, and has a full, clear, and fast sound to it that works exceptionally well on anything you put it in front of. I've used it on kick drums, vocals, bowed instruments, snare drums, and guitar amps. If you're familiar with Nevaton microphones, you'll notice that the 19a35 looks very similar. This is because the guys that started Nevaton in the 90's, after the fall of the Soviet Union, were the engineers who designed this series of LOMO mics for the USSR, and then brought their designs with them when they started Nevaton.

This 19a35 is in perfect working order and the original capsule and diaphragm are in excellent condition. The body shows some use with some minor scuffs. There are no dents. You can see in some of the photos that there is a small gap between the grill and the frame. There is no sign of any damage or stress there - I believe that may be a factory inconsistency.

The microphone will ship with its original "race car red" case, and the pictured shock mount. The mic stand and Triad-Orbit adapter are not included.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to get sample recordings with this microphone.
