About This Listing

1980s Mesa Boogie Mark III Rackmount Head

The 1980s Mesa Boogie Mark III Rackmount Head is a venerable piece of music gear, celebrated for its profound impact on the sound of the '80s and beyond. This amplifier head encapsulates the essence of that era, offering versatility, power, and a distinctive tone that has been a staple in various music genres, particularly rock and metal.

This rackmount version of the Mark III provides the same rich and dynamic tones as its combo counterpart but in a more flexible format suitable for studio and live setups. It features an input and footswitch jacks, allowing for seamless integration with your existing gear and easy control over the amp's functions during performance.

The front panel is equipped with an array of knobs: volume, treble, bass, middle, master, lead drive, and lead master, offering extensive control over your sound. These controls allow for precise tonal shaping, catering to a wide range of styles and preferences. Whether you're looking for sparkling cleans or aggressive overdrive, the Mark III delivers with exceptional clarity and depth.

A standout feature of the Mark III is its 5-band graphic EQ, with sliders for 80, 240, 750, 2200, and 6600Hz. This EQ provides additional tonal control, enabling you to sculpt your sound with surgical precision. The EQ auto/in switch offers the choice of engaging the EQ only when you need it, adding to the amp's versatility.

The head also includes essential on/standby and on/power switches, ensuring easy and safe operation. Whether you're a player looking to capture the classic tones of the '80s or a collector seeking a piece of music history, the Mesa Boogie Mark III Rackmount Head is an outstanding choice.

This head is in very good condition. This is the green stripe version. The left mount is a little beat up around the top screw with some paint off and the metal is a little bent. There is a knick in the metal above the input jack, a scratch above the treble knob, and a small knick in the top right corner of the front panel. Otherwise this unit is in perfect playing condition and is compatible with any standard rack mount setup. This amp performs flawlessly. There are no scratchy pots or issues to speak of and it really sings when you turn it up. The power light does not work and this one does not have a reverb tank installed although you could add one if you wanted reverb. This is a very well kept amp that sounds amazing!
