Step back in time with this Gibson ES-295.  Constructed entirely from maple laminate unlike its predecessor, the ES-175 that has laminated mahogany back and sides, with a truly Gibson gold finish. The ES-295 utilizes the wrap-over trapeze tailpiece which helps to provide amazing and unexpected sustain. After 70 years of age, the original gold finish has held up very well. There is the expected checking and some chipping and fading. Neck had its finish on the back worn through because of play wear, as most gold Gibsons of this age have, but the previous owner had it professionally refinished and matched pretty closely to the original finish. The fretboard looks good with minor wear. Neck angle seems to be good and action is right where it needs to be for those sonic tones. The frets have plenty of life left in them. The headstock still retains its original finish and is unbroken. There does seem to be a slight bend in the post of the G string tuner. Electronics, pickups and pots are all appear to be original. We have not removed the harness to verify this but have been assured by the previous owner, who was a serious collector. Pickups are amazing tonally - very earthy and resonant. The guitar comes with a period correct Lifton case in good shape.
