Vintage 1961 Olds "Super" Tenor Trombone w/ Mouthpiece & Case

Up for grabs is 1961 Olds "Super" tenor trombone with a hard case and Olds 3 trombone mouthpiece included.

The trombone features a 5/8" wide band around the bell with engravings indicating it's manufacture being out of Fullerton, CA by the F.E Olds & Son company. From our research online, we see that the serial number puts its production sometime between June of 1960 and March of 1962 with the most likely circumstance of sequential serial numbers putting it near the end of 1961.

Horn has cosmetic wear throughout but has no major dents or dings present. Stockings are in good shape and upon further inspection, are ribbed so we looked into this further and learned this was a process that involved crafting a 16 sided inner tube ("Fluted") and these are no longer made! Plating wear exists on the bow and bell sections along with discoloration and other cosmetic afflictions throughout the exterior. Small services such as replacement of the water key cork and general cleaning would be recommended to a potential buyer. The mouthpiece is very nice and has been cleaned, silver polished, and sanitized/bagged for it's new owner. Case appears to have been replaced by a previous owner to a newer, generic hard case. Latches, interior padding, handles, and other appointments are in great shape.

Overall, the instrument is playable and with a little bit of work, could make for a nice playing horn!
