About This Listing

WFL / Ludwig 22x14" Bass Drum in Oyster Blue Pearl.

WFL / Transition / Pre-Serial Ludwig era 22x14" Club Date bass drum in Oyster Blue Pearl. Wrap has faded in a spectacular way to reveal multitude of greens, browns and blues. This drum has the kind of Mojo only the right combo of age, weathering and gentle abuse can create. Here are some details:

  • Chrome lugs have pitting and scratches.
  • 15 of the t-rods are chrome, 5 are nickel.
  • T-rods and claws have pitting, scratches and some have surface rust. Few have chrome/nickel flaking down to the base metal. A few of the T-rods are slightly bent but all thread into the lugs/tune without difficulty.
  • Wrap has some thin cracks across two panels, they appear stable and are not lifting. There are also 4 small 'holes' in the wrap on the top of the drum.
  • Wrap in nice condition besides the above mentioned damage. Clean and visually very striking.
  • Batter side hoop is likely not original. It is moderately warped and takes a little effort to seat it properly over the head but we were able to get it to tune up nicely.
  • Reso side hoop has about 1/4 of the inlay missing. Also slightly warped but seats on the head and tunes more easily than the batter side hoop.
  • Both hoops have claw indentations, marks and dents.
  • Badge is missing. Cymbal arm mount is missing. The cymbal arm mount hole is on the center top panel. The badge hole is one panel to the right when viewed from the batter side.
  • One shell mount spur is missing the set screw that keeps the spur from falling out of the bracket. It does not affect how the spur functions.
  • Edges are in nice condition.
  • Interior shows some wrap protruding from the inner ply and a small area of damage at the corner where the wrap and ply meet.

Sounds great and looks even better.
