About This Listing

In 1958, Gibson introduced a modified version of the popular L-5 Jazz guitar, featuring a slimmer body depth and a reduced scale size of 24 3/4". With only 43 limited production units made, the George Gobel L-5 quickly became highly sought-after by collectors. Decades later, renowned LA recording artist Lee Ritenour collaborated with Gibson to bring back this remarkable instrument, adding his personal touches to create a modern jazz guitar that combines warm, expressive tones with exceptional playability.

The L-5 features a captivating neck design, topped with a 20-fret ebony fingerboard adorned with pearl block inlays and multi-ply black and white binding. The neck profile follows Gibson's traditional ES-rounded shape, offering a comfortable playing experience. The guitar's heel has been contoured, providing easier access to the higher frets. The pickup is discreetly attached to the pickguard, concealing the wire that runs through the f-hole and connects to the jack. Ritenour's specifications include adjustable pole pieces for fine-tuning the tone. Additional appointments include the classic flower pot inlay on the headstock and Schaller M6 tuners.

This guitar is in incredible condition, with the only cosmetic problem being some finish crackling around the inlays on the headstock, a common side effect of off-gassing. Serial #13531002 Comes with Certificate of Authenticity and original hardshell case.
