GORGEOUS Philips AG9014/02M 1950's Stereo OTL Tube Integrated Amp Amplifier w/ Original 800ohm Speakers

Ok, so there is a LOT to talk about here.

This is a very old, very sought after and very rare OTL tube amplifier made very much by hand in Holland somewhere around 1957-1958.

This amplifier design is a famous oddball in the tube amplification world due to it's balanced, direct output stages that operate without an output transformer. This means that a significant load, or impedance must be presented from the connected speakers. In the case of this amplifier, it was designed to be paired with a Philips made 800 ohm speaker system. It is a 10 watts / channel amplifier and the 800 ohm drivers originally used were extremely efficient, and I am including them in this auction.

So, in the case of this specific amplifier, it is original, and it WORKS. It works actually very very well. It is being sold here with 2 pairs of 6.5" Philips full range speakers. They are pairs of raw drivers, but one pair has been mounted in a pair of old Utah cabinets for use. Modern terminals have been mounted on a little board to the amplifier as well as to the Utah enclosures to make interconnects work much easier. None of these modifications to the Philips amplifier have damaged it in any way, using the holes in the cage as mounting points. It is a convenient modification since the original connections were done via DIN cables, making a little wiring harness necessary to use with other enclosures. The wiring harness in this case has been made, making the rest pretty easy.

The amplifier has not been completely restored, as I said it is original. The tubes are pretty much all Telefunken and Amperex, I have not tested each tube individually, but they are all working at the moment and the output sounds great. Some of the pots are a bit scratchy, I think a couple of indicator bulbs are out, but for the most part, everything works the way it should and it is a suprisingly easy to use amp. The build quality is BEAUTIFUL. This amp was completely made by hand, point to point and the entire thing is just still so well assembled..

It will be a rather complicated shipment, all of the tubes will be removed and carefully packaged, the amp itself double boxed, sealed, insured, speakers shipped seperately. I appologize for the high shipping rates, but it is absolutely necessary to ensure this beautiful and very old thing continues to be beautiful when it arrives to you. I am quite skilled at packaging things correctly, and full insurance will be purchased as well.
