About This Listing

For your consideration, we present a player-grade depression-era archtop acoustic from Kay. According to our research, this acoustic dates from the mid-1930's, most likely 1934-1935. This guitar's full and woody tone lends to beautiful antique tone for full-chordal folk melodies, down-and-dirty blues, and even gypsy jazz. Though this guitar retains many original components, this instrument has been refreshingly restored by Ron LaFrance of LaFrance Luthiers and Jaxson Cottrell from Keith Holland Guitars. The nitrocellulose lacquer is 100% original and has crazed to nearly-100-yr-old glory, and the guitar also retains a lovely vintage aroma. LaFrance shaped and installed a new Rosewood bridge and installed 2 longitudinal braces in order to reduce the deflection of the top. The original bridge is included in this package. We have included a photo of the newly-installed braces as the last photo on this listing. Our expert tech at Keith Holland Guitars, Jaxson Cottrell, refretted this guitar's Mahogany-with-Rosewood-fingerboard neck with brand new 6150 frets in order to give this guitar a second life with a new forever home. Bring some heritage majesty to your collection with this beautify Kay.
