Tascam DX-4D Professional Noise Reduction (pair)

This pair of Tascam DX-4D Professional Noise Reduction Systems was previously owned by someone else. I have no experience using this equipment, but I do have experience using modern preamps, compressors, and etc. I’m not very familiar with this specific piece of equipment or its affiliated components. The devices appear to power on (based on the power LEDs that stay illuminated). Furthermore, all 4 of the dbx/bypass switch LEDs appear to work, HOWEVER, they only light up briefly when powering on and off the device (specifically while the dbx/bypass switches are engaged - switches out). I’ve done some research on it, and I cannot determine if whether or not this is normal operation. It does seem like these devices are intended to be used with specific models… “a TASCAM Series recorder/producer” (user manual, page 4). The manual also says “The DX-2D/DX-4D is inoperative unless the CONTROL SIGNAL is connected to the DBX UNIT CONTROL SIGNAL,” which I believe is the case (see rear of device where it says “CASCADE”), but still don’t quite understand the full picture. From what I understand based on some research, it would appear that some people modify these to work with any recorder unit, by bypassing the control unit inside (but please do research on your own to verify the correctness of this statement). Due to the uniqueness of this equipment, I am selling these “As-Described”. All the cabling shown in the picture and subsidiaries (user manual, warranty cards) comes with the purchase. I cannot promise that these units will work as initially intended (back in the 1980s), they could use some tweaking to be fully operational, or maybe not. I just want to do my due diligence as the seller and be as transparent as possible with potential buyers. Physically, the units look pretty good with some surface scratches (as shown in pictures). They also appear to be rack-mount ready. If you have any questions or thoughts at all, feel free to reach out to me and I’ll do my best to give you any additional information as necessary.
