About This Listing

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at a gorgeous older Astatic model D-104 crystal microphone from the 1960's that comes with a period Astatic F-11 adapter and original box shown.

Pic # 2 is from my 1945 microphone catalog and shows the mics specs and cost. This is a slightly newer model of course but the design was basically the same as were the sound characteristics.

The D-104 was manufactured by Astatic in Conneaut, Ohio and was to be used as a public address mic as it's non-directional. It was a very popular design for this company and they continued to make the D-104 for many decades retaining the same overall style but this was a D-104 with the later model glued on aluminum badge. This earlier version has the riveted badge. A very cool piece in very good cosmetic condition that would be excellent for display or prop purposes.

The mic still has the original crystal element and is like new. Excellent working with very strong output. This mic was stored in the most ideal conditions and as you can see she is an absolute gem. Just as nice as you could possibly ask for.

The polished chrome body is almost completely free of scratches, scuff marks, pitting or dents. I would rate the cosmetic condition a very conservative 9 + out of 1 - 10 and the Astatic badge is completely legible as well.

The mic comes with an F-11 adapter that is wired correctly and comes with a short 6 inch cable that is soft, pliable and free of damage. Very clean and has a quality Switchcraft male XLR connector. Simply attach any longer XLR cable you prefer to use as an extension and you are in business.

The also mic comes with an older Astatic D-104 box to store the mic in while not in use. The box does show typical wear but works great and a rarer accessory. Plenty of room in the box for another cable as well.

The mic will increase in value so long as it's properly taken care of. You just don't find them this nice very often.

A very cool piece that will draw attention anywhere it's shown or used.

MICROPHONE STAND IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

As with all my vintage microphones for sale...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The return shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. International buyers are welcome as well. BUYER MUST PAY WITHIN 24 HOURS or will lose rights to this item, unpaid item report will be filed and will be relisted. If you don't intend on buying this...do not commit to buy please. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
